Antique Old Danish 830 Silver Arts And Crafts SterlingUp for auction here is a great looking danish or norwegian 830 european sterling silver three footed bowl by an unknown maker. This bowl maesures approximately 4 3/4 inches in diameter by about 2 1/2 inches in height. The piece si marked with a crude 830 on the top outside of the bowl's rim. The bowl weight about 4.25 ounces and those are standard ounces not troy ounces. The piece appears to be hand wrought / made. The symbols on the bowl have been hammered ro embossed into the metal. You can see the design from the front coming through to the back which shows like it was hadn chased. Teh feet on the bowl look like they were also hand applied. Fro condition the bowl is not perfectly round. One of the feet looks like it has a very good restoration.
There is a slight bend on the lip of the bowl from where the numbers 830 were marked. There are finger prints and tarnish all around the bowl and just a couple of very fine scratches possibly from polishing somewhere down the line.
The craftsmanship on this piece is very good though it looks crude. The piece is probably supposed to reflect a piece from the late 1600s to mid 1700s. 17th /18th century. Even the 830 is in a very old style.
The bowl is probably between 50 and 100 years old, however, it could be older. There are no maker's hall marks on the bowl so ew don't know the specific maker. There are on seams that are visible in the bowl.
